Gambling can become problematic when patrons use it as a source of income or when they gamble with more money than they can afford to lose. Responsible gambling programs are really about prevention. We have published our Office of Responsible Gambling Progress Report 2019/2020. The annual progress report measures and tracks progress as we deliver on the Strategic Plan 2018-2021. It helps hold the Office accountable for the goals we have set ourselves in the plan. NYRAbets is committed to promoting responsible wagering by its account holders. NYRAbets and its affiliate The New York Racing Association, Inc. have partnered with organizations, including the National Council on Problem Gambling (“NCPG”) and the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (“New York State HOPEline”), to address issues of compulsive and pathological gambling and have developed a comprehensive program to ensure account holders wager responsibly.

Account Access

It is NYRAbets’ policy not to accept wagers from underage gamblers and to limit account access to the account holder. Account holders must provide their identity, age and principal place of residence, all of which are verified through a third party information services company, upon establishing an account. Each account holder must be able to provide proper identification (account number and personal identification number) to ensure only the account holder can access his or her account.

Self-Exclusion

888 Responsible offers information about responsible gaming practices, dealing with problem gambling, preventing underage gambling. Parents can learn how to identify if their teenage son or daughter might have a problem related to gambling, while players can take the self-assessment to test to determine their gambling habits, learn how to keep out of debt and learn how to play responsibly.

Individuals with a gambling problem may choose to voluntarily exclude themselves from wagering at NYRA racetracks by making a request for self-exclusion. Please note: PURSUANT TO NEW YORK STATE GAMING COMMISSION REGULATIONS, ANY PERSON WHO REQUESTS TO BE EXCLUDED FROM NYRABETS WILL BE EXCLUDED FROM ALL NEW YORK STATE GAMING ACTIVITIES AND FACILITIES, INCLUDING: CASINOS, HORSE RACING TRACKS, OFF-TRACK BETTING FACILITIES, VIDEO LOTTERY GAMING AND INTERACTIVE FANTASY SPORTS ACTIVITIES. A list of the specific gaming facilities and activities can be found on the self-exclusion form.
