Deutsche Mark coins were issued by the Deutsche Bundesbank, the German central. They became obsolete in 2002, when Germany adopted the Euro as its national currency. We continue to exchange pre-euro D-Mark and Pfennig coins. The Pfennig is a subunit of the Deutschmark: 1 Mark is equal to 100 Pfennig. Nazi Germany Coins With the resolution of the Enabling Act in 1933, Adolf Hitler became Chancellor of Germany. Starting in 1933, the country of Germany became known as the Third Reich, or Nazi Germany, and this totalitarian state began minting Nazi Coins.

With oldgermancoins.com, I want to provide a free online resource for collectors and numismatists who are interested in German coins minted before 1945. My own collection mainly consists of German States coins from Brandenburg and Prussia, which is why this website will primarily feature coins from that region. However, I will also try to provide a useful overview on German Empire coins, coins from the German colonies, circulating issues from the Weimar Republic and coins from the Third Reich.
This website may not exactly serve as a catalog, because I do not list any particular values.
